Your Path to Complete Advantage Play

A structured guide from beginner to casino-ready. Know exactly what to learn, in what order, and what mastery looks like at each stage.

How long does this take?

With consistent practice (30-60 min/day), most people are casino-ready in 2-4 months. The skills compound — each step makes the next easier. The bottleneck is usually basic strategy automaticity and count training speed, not intelligence.

Master Basic Strategy

2–4 weeks

The absolute foundation. Every hand, every time, no exceptions. You cannot count cards effectively while also thinking about what to do — basic strategy must be automatic.

Milestones

  • 100% accuracy on all hard totals
  • 100% accuracy on soft totals
  • 100% accuracy on pairs
  • Sub-3 second decisions at the table

Learn the KO System

1–2 weeks

KO (Knock-Out) is unbalanced — you never need to convert to a true count. Learn the card values until they're instant and automatic. Track the count while doing other tasks.

Milestones

  • Know all 13 card values without hesitation
  • Maintain count through distractions
  • Track count while playing basic strategy simultaneously

Develop Your Betting Ramp

1 week

The edge comes from betting more when the count is favorable. Build a clear, memorized bet table keyed to your running count and stick to it mechanically.

Milestones

  • Know your bet for each count level instantly
  • Practice with real chips at home
  • Never second-guess bet sizes at the table

Build Your Bankroll

Ongoing

The rule of thumb: you need at least 200-400 maximum bets to have an 80%+ chance of never going broke. Calculate your risk of ruin before your first serious session.

Milestones

  • Determine your unit size
  • Calculate risk of ruin at your bankroll
  • Never bring money to a session you can't afford to lose

Game Selection

Ongoing

Not all blackjack games are worth playing. 6:5 payouts, shallow penetration, and continuous shuffle machines are traps. Know which games are beatable before you sit down.

Milestones

  • Never play 6:5 blackjack
  • Only play games with 75%+ penetration
  • Confirm rules before buying in

Casino Camouflage

Ongoing

The biggest practical challenge. You need to appear like a normal recreational player while executing a precise mathematical strategy. This is a learnable skill.

Milestones

  • Natural table conversation and behavior
  • Occasional 'mistakes' on low-count hands
  • Consistent cover story and play style
  • Know when to leave a table

The Most Common Mistakes

Playing before basic strategy is automatic

You'll make strategy mistakes under casino pressure. BS must be zero-thought before you touch a real table.

Playing 6:5 blackjack games

6:5 costs you 1.4%. No counting system makes up for this. Only ever play 3:2.

Underbankrolled sessions

Even with an edge, variance will destroy an underbankrolled player. 200+ max bets minimum.

Playing at hot casinos before you're ready

Practice at kitchen tables, app simulations, and low-limit tables before going where it counts.

Obvious cover / bet jumps

Jumping from $10 to $100 when the count spikes is how counters get backed off. Learn to spread naturally.

Ready to train?

Start with the KO count trainer — the fastest path to being casino-ready. It eliminates true count conversion entirely.
